Minnesota River Valley National Wildlife Refuge
David Drufke and I met up for an afternoon of watching the eagles on the Minnesota River near his house.  Hard to believe sometimes this place is in a major metropolitan area.  After a quick moving clipper system dropped through the area in the early morning hours with a couple inches of fresh snow, the skies broke for a little bit improving  the light conditions. Unfortunately by the time I arrived, the clouds had filled back in.  It was also nice to meet Chad Gustafson this afternoon.  Be sure to check out his impressive nature photography at www.regalwildlife.com
One of the few times an eagle actually caught it's own fish.  Usually the eagles wait for a gull to catch a fish and drop it back on the ice.  Kinda like fast food for eagles.
One thing that drives me nuts about every Nikon DSLR I have owned is the purple fringing  when the body gets really cold.
