June 27th
Wright County Minnesota
Some super cold air aloft and a
little daytime heating kicks off a
couple of strong thunderstorms
along the I-94 corridor.
After missing the first storm as we scambled to pick up after an outdoor event at Melinda's house, we headed
out south of town to watch the second cell come down from the northwest.
Despite not looking very organized visually, the cells had a very nice radar signature.  This cell did manage to
produce a few 50 mph wind gusts which did a fine job of blowing around some lawn furniture we saw and also
took down a mailbox.
We tried to stay just in front of the updaft area, but it finally caught us since it was moving southeast at 50
mph.  At least the travel distance wasn't brutal for a change to see a pretty storm.
