Just as quickly as the brief tornado and funnel disappeared, a third funnel started to stretch towards the ground from another area. It was closer than the tornado we just witnessed but a little firther out than the first funnel . Weird. |

This one was trying much harder than the other two. Peggy Willenberg, Melanie Metz, and Brad / Mary Lynn Nelson have some nice photos from this tornado as well. |

Within a few seconds, it became a whispy ropey tornado. Definitely not very strong but was just beautiful to watch. |

I'll need to go back and look at the full video but I'm guessing it was on the ground for a couple of minutes or so. Looking about due south at this time so the tornado would be west of Alden, MN somewhere slowly moving east. I made the decison to move in for a closer look as I had what I thought would be a perfect intercept. |

Well, the tornado had other ideas as just as I started to move in, it quickly roped out and was gone. Video grab from my dash cam. Dave, Kristen, and myself played around with another cell coming up out of Iowa which was tornado warned but it never really amounted to much. Steve Yezek got a tonado off this new cell near Twin Lakes, MN. I'll update the page when I find all of the links. |
